Over the past decade the museum has become increasingly important in health and well-being1 as well as economic development. In parallel there has been a growing awareness of architectural and spatial design in its functioning. This issue has become more complex as digital technologies offer new potentials to mediate between museum content and visitors.
The interaction between spatial design and digital technologies in creating the museum of the future is the focus of this research. The research project draws together the systematic understanding of the architectural space and the sensory environment, and explores how these two interact to create the final museum experience, influencing the movement of visitors within them and their engagement with the digital content.
The research project MUSEE is supported by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) under the “2nd Call for H.F.R.I. Research Projects to support Faculty Members Researchers” (Project Number: 2501).
